Sep 18 (loopjamaica.com) - At age 117 years, Nabi Tajima of Japan has taken over as the world's oldest verified living person.
This follows the death of Jamaican Violet Moss-Brown, who was marginally older, yesterday.
Moss Brown passed away at the Fairfield Medical Centre in St James after a brief period of illness.
She became the oldest living person on April 15 this year after the death of Emma Morano of Italy.
Interestingly, Moss-Brown's eldest child, Harold Fairweather, was believed to be the world's oldest living child with a parent alive. But Fairweather died a few months ago at age 97 years.
