Sep 22 (Nikkei) - Japan's three major mobile carriers on Friday began selling the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus -- minus the usual enthusiasm of previous iPhone launches.
The reason behind the less-than-euphoric reception is not hard to see; the lineup does not include the iPhone X -- sales of which have been pushed back to November.
The response is noteworthy because Japan is the first major market in which the latest iPhone has gone on sale.
Still, the carriers' hopes remain high as sales are expected to hit record levels once the most advanced model hits the market.
