Sep 27 (NHK) - An exhibition has opened in Bangkok to mark the 130th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Japan and Thailand.
The 2 countries are said to have started exchanges about 600 years ago, and established official diplomatic relations in 1887.
At the opening ceremony on Tuesday, Thai Deputy Foreign Minister Virasakdi Futrakul said the 2 nations have promoted comprehensive cooperation and supported each other's economic development.
Photos at the exhibition show the friendship between the Japanese Imperial family and the Thai royal family.
Characters from popular Japanese anime are also on display.
Visitors enjoyed listening to Japanese songs played on a "ranad," a xylophone-like instrument, and a Japanese "koto."
