Oct 19 (Japan Today) - Police in Shizuoka city on Wednesday began a murder investigation after the body of a 62-year-old woman was found in a mountain forest.
Police said the victim was a woman who was reported missing by her family on Oct 11, Fuji TV reported.
According to police, the partially decayed body was found at around 3 p.m. Tuesday in the forest in Otani, Suruga Ward. She was lying on her stomach, wrapped in a blanket. Her clothing was disheveled and she was barefoot.
There were no personal effects or any ID on the body, police said, adding an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.
Police and sniffer dogs had been searching for the woman since she was reported missing. The spot where she was found is about 1.4 kms from her home.
