Oct 31 (Japan Today) - Police in Date, Hokkaido, have arrested a 19-year-old woman worker on suspicion of attempted murder after she stabbed her father at their home.
According to police, the suspect, who cannot be named because she is a minor, stabbed her father in the back twice with a kitchen knife at their home at around 8:40 p.m. on Saturday, local media reported.
At the time, her father, who is unemployed, was in the living room watching television. After being stabbed, he managed to call 119. He was taken to hospital and his wounds are not life-threatening, police said.
Police quoted the daughter as saying, "I wanted to kill my father out of hatred after being subjected to his daily physical abuse.†She told police that just before she attacked him, she and her father had gotten into a heated argument. She also said he had slapped her face a day earlier and then he frequently beat other members of the family.
Police said the suspect lived with three siblings and her parents.
