Suspect: 4 of 9 victims were teenagers

Nov 02 (NHK) - A man who kept the dismembered bodies of 9 people in his apartment near Tokyo has reportedly told police that 4 of them were girls in their late teens.

Police arrested 27-year-old Takahiro Shiraishi on Tuesday after finding the mutilated bodies in the apartment in Zama City, Kanagawa Prefecture.

The suspect has reportedly admitted to killing all 9 people after he moved into the apartment in late August.

He has described 4 victims as around age 20, and one as in the late 20s.

Police say the suspect told them that most of the victims said on Twitter that they wanted to commit suicide, and that he sent them the message "Let's die together."

He also said he used multiple Twitter accounts and deleted access records to hide his identity.

Police believe the suspect targeted women who wanted to die, and killed them after luring them to his apartment.
