Suspect bought ropes, saw in mid-August

Nov 08 (NHK) - Tokyo police say the suspected serial killer of 9 people bought ropes and a saw before moving to the apartment where dismembered bodies were found.

Police say 27-year-old Takahiro Shiraishi has admitted to killing the 9 after moving to the one-room apartment in Zama City, near Tokyo, on August 22nd.

They say the suspect also told them he bought the tools in mid-August.

Police note that prior to making the purchases, Shiraishi used his smartphone to search for ways to dispose of bodies.
