Jan 21 (NHK) - Thousands of blooming tulips are giving people an early taste of spring at a park in eastern Japan.
Some 15,000 tulips began to flower late last month at Hitachi Seaside Park in Ibaraki Prefecture.
They're called "ice tulips" because their bulbs have been refrigerated to make them bloom in winter. But the process took 2 weeks more than expected due to a cold spell in December.
