Apr 28 (NHK) - A Japanese TV network has released a statement by an employee who is believed to have been sexually harassed by a former Finance Ministry top bureaucrat.
This comes after the ministry acknowledged the misconduct by the former administrative vice finance minister, Junichi Fukuda, and punished him.
The reporter at TV Asahi says in the statement that it's disappointing that Fukuda denies the sexual harassment, but she takes it seriously that the ministry has acknowledged the truth and offered an apology.
She also says society should not allow acts of harassment to be repeated and that there should not be high hurdles for the victims to speak out.
She notes that she hopes Japan will be a society where all people's dignity is protected and people can work comfortably.
