Man who slashed 3 people in Yokohama, killing 1, found dead

Jun 22 (Japan Today) - A man who slashed three people, including one fatally, with a knife at a housing complex in Yokohama early Thursday, has been found dead after apparently committing suicide, police said.

The 76-year-old man fled the scene after the attack that occurred in Asahi Ward at around 1:35 a.m., according to the Kanagawa prefectural police.

The victim who died in the attack was Koji Endo, 61. His 61-year-old wife Kyoko, who called police, and 40-year-old son Tomokazu, were also stabbed. Kyoko received a wound to her face and is in a stable condition, while Tomokazu remained unconscious, police said.

Police said the suspect, who was related to the family, apparently jumped to his death from the roof of an apartment building in Kanazawa Ward, about 25 kilometers from where the attacks took place.
