Jul 04 (NHK) - The operator of the main train network in Tokyo says it will install security cameras on all trains before the 2020 Tokyo Olympic and Paralympic Games to prevent terrorism and other crimes.
East Japan Railway Company plans to install 8 cameras in each car.
The operator decided to install more cameras after nearly 600 cases of train vandalism were reported between February and June.
It says the videos will be stored for about a week, and access will be restricted to protect the privacy of passengers.
