Jul 05 (NHK) - Japan's first hotel featuring the cartoon character Snoopy is to open on August 1st in the western city of Kobe.
Snoopy is one of the main characters in the 4-frame cartoon "Peanuts" that ran in newspapers in the United States from 1950 to 2000.
The cartoons appear on the walls of the new Peanuts Hotel's 18 guestrooms and other areas.
Friendship, love, philosophy and other themes are explored in Peanuts stories.
The hotel's restaurant plans to serve Snoopy's favorite food, pizza, and chocolate cake based on the strip's main character, Charlie Brown.
Hotel manager Taisuke Azuma says Kobe has an exotic atmosphere similar to that of the city where "Peanuts" was created. He says his hotel will show the world of the cartoon from Kobe.
Hotel officials say they'll start taking reservations on July 20th.
