Feb 18 (Japan Today) - A 43-year-old employee of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has been arrested for allegedly using his smartphone to film up the skirt of a high school girl on a train.
According to police, the suspect, Masahiro Sakata, stood in front of the girl who was seated and aimed his smartphone camera at her legs at around 10:05 p.m. Friday on the Tobu Isesaki Line between Koshigaya and Sengendai stations in Saitama Prefecture.
A male passenger saw what Sakata was doing and grabbed his arm from behind. He handed Sakata over to station staff.
Sakata, who lives in Koshigaya, Saitama Prefecture, has been charged with violating public nuisance laws. Police said he has admitted to the charge and quoted him as saying he got turned on by seeing the legs of girls wearing miniskirts.
