Mar 23 (Japan Today) - Police in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture, said Sunday they have arrested a 44-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of killing a 70-year-old man by beating him to death with a small concrete block last week.
According to police, the man attacked Shuji Yoshida, the operator of a company that provides caregiving services, near the south exit of JR Amagasaki Station at around 11:05 a.m. last Tuesday Fuji TV reported. Witnesses said the two men had been arguing before the attacker repeatedly beat Yoshida in the face and head with the concrete block. He then ran away toward the north side of the station.
Yoshida was taken to hospital where he died about an hour after arrival.
Police did not name the suspect, saying that he was a psychiatric patient who had been receiving care from Yoshida’s company. He was identified after an analysis of street surveillance camera footage.
