Jul 28 (NHK) - Japanese authorities confirmed 598 new coronavirus cases nationwide on Monday.
The total number of cases in Japan now stands at 31,976. That includes cases found during airport quarantine checks, as well as 712 from the Diamond Princess cruise ship docked near Tokyo earlier this year.
The death toll has reached 1,012, including 13 from the cruise ship.
The health ministry says the number of patients critically ill with the coronavirus was 67, as of Monday.
So far 22,775 people have been discharged from hospital, including 659 who were on board the Diamond Princess.
