Aug 06 (NHK) - The Japanese musical theater company Takarazuka Revue has extended the cancelation of its performances after three performers and one staff member tested positive for the coronavirus.
The all-female company says one of its performers complained of a decreased sense of taste on Sunday and tested positive for the virus on Tuesday.
This led the 236 others involved in the same production to undergo tests. They are 72 performers and 164 staffers. Results for 140 of them were available by Tuesday, showing three more infected.
The company cancelled performances at the Takarazuka Grand Theater in Hyogo Prefecture from Sunday through Tuesday.
Performances were to resume on Thursday for a 10-day period through August 16, but now these have also been cancelled.
The company apologized to fans for the inconvenience and causing concern. It says it will receive advice from public health authorities and take necessary measures, such as disinfecting the theater and identifying people who came into close contact with the virus carriers.
