Nov 18 (NHK) - Budget carrier AirAsia Japan filed for bankruptcy on Tuesday due to headwinds from the coronavirus.
The airline began operating in 2017 as a joint venture between Malaysia-based AirAsia Group and Japanese partners.
The move comes after the carrier said last month that it was ending all its operations as passenger demand plunged. It faces debts of about 207 million dollars and has already suspended all flights.
The airline ran three domestic routes from an airport in central Japan, as well as flights to Taipei in Taiwan.
