Football: Liverpool's Takumi Minamino opens Premier League account

Dec 20 (Kyodo) - Japan forward Takumi Minamino recorded his long-awaited first goal in the English Premier League on Saturday by opening the scoring in Liverpool's 7-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

Minamino, who joined Liverpool from Austrian champions Red Bull Salzburg in January, found the net for the visitors just three minutes into the match at Selhurst Park to collect his first goal in 18 league appearances.

The 25-year-old was teed up by Sadio Mane in a crowded penalty area and produced a couple of feints before unleashing into the bottom corner to set the tone for the Premier League champions, who moved six points clear at the top of the table.
