Japan secures best-ever gold medal haul

Jul 31 (NHK) - Japan secured its best-ever Olympic gold medal tally on Friday after winning the men's fencing team epee event.

The country's 17th gold, and first ever in the sport, came against the Russian Olympic Committee.

Japan previously won 16 golds at the 1964 Tokyo Games, and again in Athens in 2004.
