A video of Ito is now going viral on social media with netizens in awe of her performance and willpower. Ito lost her right arm in a motorbike accident but decided to continue her training as a nurse and became Japan's first qualified nurse with a prosthetic arm in 2007. Manami Ito then decided to own her scars and took up swimming to participate in the Paralympics.
