Dec 08 (NHK) - Five Japanese firms have teamed up to build drones they say cannot be hijacked or have their data stolen.
Japan's industry ministry commissioned the project. It has been encouraging domestic production in a market that is dominated by a single Chinese firm.
The participants include Yamaha Motor, NTT Docomo and drone startup ACSL.
The government plans to use the small, four-rotor device to survey the damage at disaster sites and to inspect the country's infrastructure. The firms also plan to sell the drones commercially.
