Feb 22 (NHK) - Cat lovers in Japan are celebrating "Cat Day" on Tuesday, with some businesses joining in the festivities.
February 22 is known as Cat Day in the country because the Japanese word for "two," "ni," sounds similar to "nyan," the Japanese word for "meow."
Some train companies sold special tickets for the day. Eizan Railway in the western city of Kyoto was one of them.
At Demachiyanagi Station, people bought such tickets that were cat-shaped. Customers using the tickets on the day could get them stamped with the date "22.2.22."
