Mar 03 (NHK) - Toyota Motor is one of the latest multinational corporations planning to suspend operations in Russia as tough sanctions are being imposed on the country due to the conflict in Ukraine.
The Japanese automaker is manufacturing sport utility vehicles and other models at a plant in Saint Petersburg.
Toyota says the lines will stop running from Friday. It cites difficulty in procuring parts due to supply-chain disruptions.
Toyota's local subsidiary will also halt its vehicle imports.
Toyota says in a statement that it is "monitoring global developments" and will make "decisions as required."
Honda Motor has announced a suspension of its Russia-bound exports.
Mitsubishi Motors says it may halt operations of its local plant.
