May 11 (Japan Times) - Japan will make higher education more accessible to middle-class science and technology students by expanding government subsidies for low-income students, a government panel proposed on Tuesday.
The group has also called for financial support for students from families with three or more children, a government source said Prime Minister Fumio Kishida intends to use the move to attract more public support ahead of this summer’s upper house elections.
