Jul 28 (NHK) - Japan's health ministry says a second case of monkeypox has been confirmed in the country.
Officials says a man in his 30s from abroad, who is staying in Tokyo, tested positive on Thursday.
They say he had a headache, muscle pain, fatigue and a mouth rash when he visited a medical institution on Wednesday. A test by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government confirmed his infection.
They say the man has been hospitalized in Tokyo and is in stable condition.
Officials say the man entered Japan in late July from the North and Central America region. They suspect he likely contracted the virus there because he was already symptomatic before he arrived in Japan.
They say he has not had any close contact with the man who tested positive for monkeypox in Tokyo on Monday.
