Dec 16 (NHK) - Japan's boxing superstar Inoue Naoya opened his training session to the public on Friday, saying he has a strong desire to win his upcoming showdown in Tokyo with the Philippines' Marlon Tapales.
Inoue, who fights Tapales on December 26, is aiming to be the second boxer in the world to unify all four major belts in two divisions.
The 30-year-old has won all 25 of his fights, with 22 knockouts. He currently owns the WBC and WBO super bantamweight belts. Tapales is the WBA and IBF champion in the same division.
Last year, Inoue unified all four major belts in the bantam division before stepping up to super bantam weight.
On Friday, he shadowboxed aggressively and threw powerful one-two and hook punches against a bag at the gym he belongs to in Yokohama, near Tokyo.
