Standoff Ends at Tokyo Hotel, Female Hostage Released

TOKYO, Jan 12 (News On Japan) - A man who barricaded himself in a hotel near Uguisudani Station in Tokyo on Friday morning was arrested by police at around 11:25 AM on charges of kidnapping a woman.

According to sources involved in the investigation, at around 8:15 AM on Friday, hotel staff reported a disturbance, saying they heard a man and a woman arguing.

The incident unfolded on the fourth floor of the hotel. Police officers arriving on the scene requested the door to be opened, but received no response, with the man inside barricaded himself in the room.

A woman was reportedly taken hostage, but released about three hours later. She is conscious, and her injuries, if any, are being assessed.

The hotel is located about 200 meters east of JR Uguisudani Station, in an area lined with hotels and restaurants.
