Osaka Police Officer Arrested for Sexually Assualting Minor

OSAKA, Jul 13 (News On Japan) - A 26-year-old policeman in Osaka has been arrested and indicted for sexually assaulting a girl in his car, knowing that she was under 16 years old.

The officer who was indicted on Saturday morning on suspicion of non-consensual intercourse, is suspected of sexually assaulting a girl in his car in a parking lot of a commercial facility in Osaka prefecture in June, knowing that she was under 16 years old.

According to the police, the officer met the girl on social media earlier this year and met her multiple times, falsely claiming to work in construction.

The incident was discovered when the girl and her parents consulted the police in late June, and the officer admitted to the charges, saying "there is no mistake." The Osaka Prefectural Police commented, "This is an unspeakable act for a police officer, and we deeply regret it. We will deal with this strictly."
