Jan 21 (NHK) - In the English Premier League, Japan's Mitoma Kaoru has become the league's highest-scoring Japanese soccer player with 15 goals.
The Brighton midfielder played the full 90 minutes in an away game against Manchester United on Sunday.
With the score tied 1-1, Mitoma struck a cross ball into the net in the 60th minute. He scored for two consecutive games, marking his fifth goal of the season.
Mitoma's total of 15 goals in the league moved him one ahead of Japanese forward Okazaki Shinji, who played for Leicester City.
Mitoma also set up an opener in the fifth minute, contributing to his team's 3-1 victory with one goal and one assist.
