Yamada and Akane’s Awkward But Irresistible Romance Sparks in New Film Trailer

Apr 13, 2025 (News On Japan) - A special emotional trailer has been released following the theatrical debut of the film Yamada-kun and Lv999’s Love, a romantic story that resonates with viewers of all ages for being awkward, authentic, and heartfelt.

The story centers around Akane, a university student played by Mizuki Yamashita, who is reeling from a recent breakup. She unexpectedly meets Yamada, portrayed by Ryuto Sakuma, a high school professional gamer known for his cold, distant demeanor in online games. While initially appearing aloof and unapproachable, Yamada gradually reveals an unexpectedly kind and considerate side—earning him the title of the ultimate “gap” male character.

Though Akane starts to fall for Yamada’s unconscious displays of gentleness, he remains a daunting romantic opponent—completely uninterested in love, yet inexplicably popular with others. What begins as a rocky first impression turns into a seemingly impossible romantic challenge. Will Akane be able to win over the hardest boss of her love life?
