FUKUOKA, Apr 21 (News On Japan) - A powerful earthquake struck Myanmar on March 28th, leaving 3,600 dead and hundreds missing, prompting Myanmar nationals living in Fukuoka City to call for support for their stricken homeland.
In the Yoshizuka district of Hakata Ward, Fukuoka City, a memorial service was held to pray for the victims.
Aung Ko Ko Paing said, "It’s heartbreaking. I want to do everything I can from Fukuoka to help with the recovery," as he urged people to donate.
Donations have come not only from the Myanmar community, but also from Japanese, Vietnamese, and others. The funds are expected to be delivered to Myanmar sometime in April.
