Woman Arrested After Allegedly Severing Boyfriend’s Ring Finger With Axe

OSAKA, Apr 23 (News On Japan) - A 23-year-old woman has been arrested and indicted in Osaka for allegedly cutting off her boyfriend’s ring finger with an axe.

The woman is accused of assaulting her 21-year-old partner between September last year and January this year at an apartment in Osaka’s Kita Ward. According to investigators, she used an axe to sever his ring finger and scissors to injure his upper body, causing serious injuries.

In January, she contacted police claiming a dispute had occurred over a breakup. When officers arrived at the apartment, they found the severed finger stored in the refrigerator.

She has denied the charges, reportedly stating that "the victim cut off his own ring finger."

Police suspect the woman had been regularly violent toward the man and are continuing to investigate her motive.
