Mariya Nishiuchi to Leave Showbiz

TOKYO, May 16 (News On Japan) - Model and actress Mariya Nishiuchi, 31, has announced her retirement from the entertainment industry.

Nishiuchi posted on social media on Thursday afternoon that she had decided to end her career in show business. "While I will refrain from going into detail, earlier this year it came to light that a member of my family was involved in a certain incident. Although I was not involved, I felt there was a risk that it could develop into a larger issue and cause inconvenience to many parties, so I voluntarily suspended my activities," she explained.

She added that she feels the need to take time to reflect with both her family and herself, and revealed that her agency contract will conclude at the end of May.
