FUKUOKA, Jul 20 (News On Japan) - An interactive exhibition blending Edo-period ukiyo-e with modern digital technology is underway in Fukuoka, offering visitors the chance to experience traditional Japanese clothing through easy kimono rentals.
Held in Hakata Ward, Fukuoka, the "Moving Ukiyo-e Exhibition" features over 300 works by renowned ukiyo-e artists such as Katsushika Hokusai and Utagawa Hiroshige, brought to life through projection mapping and other digital techniques.
During the three-day holiday period starting July 19th, visitors can rent a separate-type kimono that can be worn over regular clothing, allowing them to take commemorative photos in the ukiyo-e-themed space.
"It made me want to connect more with Japanese culture," said one visitor.
The "Moving Ukiyo-e Exhibition" is being held on the 9th floor of JR Hakata City and runs until August 17th. The kimono rental service will be available until July 21st.
