TOKYO, Jul 24 (News On Japan) - A fire broke out in a 10-story apartment building in Higashi-Shinagawa, Tokyo, on the morning of July 24th, leaving six people with minor injuries. Authorities believe the blaze was triggered by a handheld fan that was charging at the time.
Footage from the scene showed white smoke billowing from one of the upper floors, with firefighters using ladder trucks to respond.
The fire started around 8:30 a.m. in a unit on the ninth floor of the building. A total of 51 emergency vehicles were dispatched, and the flames were extinguished about an hour and a half later. Approximately 20 square meters were burned.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department and other sources, six people—including the man living in the apartment where the fire started, a woman living in the unit above, and several firefighters—sustained minor injuries.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, which is believed to have originated from a handheld fan left charging in the room.
