TOKYO, Aug 19 (News On Japan) - Japan's Imperial Household Agency began Monday sharing updates on Princess Aiko’s solo duties and the activities of the Akishino family and other imperial members on its official Instagram account.
The official account, launched in April 2024, has primarily featured the activities of the Emperor and Empress and is followed by 2.06 million users.
According to the agency’s public relations office, beginning on August 18, it will post monthly summaries of Princess Aiko’s independent duties, the Akishino family’s engagements, and other imperial activities.
The agency said it hopes the expanded coverage will help younger generations better understand the imperial family, stating, “By broadening the scope of information we share, we want to reach a wider audience, including younger people.”
Regarding whether the coming-of-age ceremony for Prince Hisahito, scheduled for September 6, will be featured, the agency said it is “still under consideration.”
