TOKYO, Sep 15 (News On Japan) - A woman was injured when a large tree collapsed on a cycling course at Komazawa Olympic Park in Setagaya Ward, Tokyo, on September 15th.
According to police, the accident occurred around 12:40 p.m. when a cherry tree, measuring more than ten meters in height, snapped at its base and fell onto the cycling path. The woman, who was passing by on a bicycle, was struck and taken to a hospital. She remains conscious.
Footage from the site shows the fallen tree and a nearby bicycle lying on the ground. Park officials confirmed that the tree was a cherry tree, broken at the roots.
The incident took place beside a children’s playground along the cycling course. Police are investigating the cause of the collapse.
