GIFU, Sep 23 (News On Japan) - A shopping street in Gifu City was the scene of an unusual theft when a man stole six anime-related novels from a café storefront in just 20 seconds.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. on September 11th. According to the store owner, the novels were displayed at the entrance because the shopping district itself appears in the story. The thief, wearing a mask, showed no hesitation and simply reached out, taking the books one after another until he held six in his arms before walking away.
The stolen items are valued at about 5,000 yen. The café owner, shocked by the incident, said, "Because the area is safe, I thought it would be fine to leave them there, but I was really shocked."
The owner added, "If the person was truly a fan of the anime, I don’t think they would do something like this. I hope they return the books one by one after reading them." If the novels are not returned, the café plans to file a report with the police.
