TOKYO, Sep 24 (News On Japan) - Three employees of a delivery-only restaurant in Tokyo’s Edogawa Ward were sprayed with what appeared to be pepper spray on Wednesday morning, leaving them with minor injuries. Police are searching for two masked suspects who fled the scene.
The incident occurred shortly after 10 a.m. outside a delivery-only restaurant in Higashi-Koiwa, near JR Koiwa Station, when the workers were sitting in a car parked on the street. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, two masked men dressed in dark clothing approached the vehicle and, without saying a word, sprayed a foreign national man and woman in their 30s along with another colleague before escaping.
A nearby resident recalled hearing sudden noises, saying, "I heard a girl scream and then a loud bang, like something heavy had fallen."
The three workers complained of eye pain and were taken to hospital, but their injuries are considered minor.
The assailants made no attempt to steal from the victims and fled immediately by car. Police are investigating the case as assault and continuing their search for the suspects.
On September 19th, a man in Edogawa Ward was also sprayed in an attempted robbery, raising concerns over a possible connection between the incidents.
