Man Surrenders After Fatal Stabbing of Woman

OSAKA, Oct 02 (News On Japan) - A woman in her 30s was found dead with multiple stab wounds in Higashi-Osaka after a man who claimed to have stabbed someone turned himself in at a local police station.

According to police and fire officials, shortly after 1:30 p.m. on October 1st, a man believed to be in his 50s appeared at the Hiraoka Police Station in Higashi-Osaka, saying he had stabbed a person.

Officers went to a building in Hakodono-cho, where the first floor houses a bar and the upper floors are residential. There they discovered a woman lying on her back in a third-floor room, where she was pronounced dead at the scene. She had been stabbed multiple times in the chest and elsewhere, and a bloodstained kitchen knife was found nearby.

Police are questioning the man, who voluntarily turned himself in, on suspicion of killing the woman, and plan to arrest him once the charges are confirmed.
