SAPPORO, Nov 30 (News On Japan) - Christmas stalls and German winter dishes have filled Odori Park since November 21st, as the annual “Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo” opened in celebration of the long-standing sister-city relationship between Sapporo and Munich.
First launched in 2002, the event features a wide range of seasonal items including nutcrackers and other traditional Christmas ornaments.
Visitors can also enjoy classic German winter treats such as rich hot chocolate—thicker and more intense than typical Japanese cocoa—alongside pretzels, hot mulled wine infused with spices and fruit, and the potato-based dumpling dish known as Knödel. The venue is further illuminated by the “Sapporo White Illumination,” which lights up the surrounding area and enhances the festive atmosphere.
The Munich Christmas Market in Sapporo will run through December 25th.
