TOKYO, Mar 04 (News On Japan) - A man has been referred to prosecutors by the Metropolitan Police Department for failing to attend a mandatory safety course after being cited for traffic violations while riding an electric scooter.
According to investigators, the man was stopped for traffic violations twice while operating an electric scooter in 2024. Following the incidents, the Tokyo Metropolitan Public Safety Commission ordered him to attend a driver safety course specifically for electric scooter riders.
However, authorities say he ignored the notification and failed to take the required course by the designated deadline.
This marks the first case nationwide in which a person has been referred to prosecutors for violating an order to attend a mandatory electric scooter safety course.
