Drunk Chinese Man Who Ran Over Four Kids Admits Driving Without License

SAITAMA - A Chinese man who received a suspended prison sentence and had his driver's license revoked after striking four elementary school students while driving drunk in 2025 admitted at his first trial on September 3 that he repeatedly drove without a license while still on probation.

Defendant Deng Hongpeng, 44, drove into a group of elementary school students while intoxicated in May 2025 and fled the scene.

He was subsequently sentenced to two years and six months in prison, suspended for four years, and had his driver's license revoked.

During that trial, Deng told the court that he would "never drive a car again."

Despite the pledge, Deng was arrested and indicted on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act after allegedly driving without a license repeatedly in Saitama Prefecture in June 2026 while still serving his suspended sentence.

Deng appeared at the Koshigaya Branch of the Saitama District Court for his first hearing on September 3.

He reportedly listened to the proceedings while staring fixedly ahead.

After prosecutors read out the charges, Deng admitted the allegations, telling the court, "It is true. That is correct."
