GIFU - Police are investigating whether one of 11 people gathered at a cake shop in Motosu, Gifu Prefecture, was involved in a fire that left two people dead and three others injured on the night of September 5, after an emergency caller reported that someone had been stabbed and gasoline had been spread before the blaze broke out.
According to police, an emergency call was made at around 9 p.m. on September 5 reporting that "someone has been stabbed, gasoline has been spread and there is a fire" at the cake shop.
Two bodies were found in the burned remains of the building, while three other people were taken to a hospital.
The shop had already closed for the day when the fire started, and a total of 11 people, including acquaintances, were gathered inside the building at the time.
Investigators have since determined that one of those 11 people may have been involved in the incident.
Police suspect the fire may have been deliberately set and began examining the scene on the morning of September 6 to determine the circumstances surrounding the deaths, injuries and blaze.
