Kyoto Employee Busted Stealing Used Sanitary Products From Women's Restroom

KYOTO - A 62-year-old Kyoto Prefectural Government employee has been suspended for three months after repeatedly entering a women's restroom at his workplace and taking used sanitary products, with the employee subsequently resigning voluntarily.

According to the Kyoto Prefectural Government, the man, who worked within the jurisdiction of the Nantan Regional Promotion Bureau, entered the women's restroom at his workplace between five and seven times from around December last year through around June this year.

The prefecture said he took used sanitary products from the restroom during those visits.

The matter came to light in June when police questioned the employee while his private vehicle was parked at a commercial facility in Osaka Prefecture. The sanitary products in question were found on the passenger seat of the vehicle.

During an investigation by the prefectural government, the employee said he entered the women's restroom while working overtime when no one else was on the floor.

Kyoto Prefecture imposed a three-month disciplinary suspension on the employee.

He voluntarily resigned effective September 8.
