NAGOYA - Japan opened its women's soccer campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games with an 8-0 victory over Thailand on September 14, making a dominant start to its bid for a third consecutive and fourth overall championship.
The women's preliminary-round matches began at venues including Shizuoka Stadium, with Japan facing Thailand in its opening Group E match.
Nakajima of Hiroshima scored a hat trick in the first half, while Takarada of Cerezo Osaka Yanmar completed another hat trick after the break as Japan overwhelmed Thailand.
