NAGOYA - A 37-year-old man was arrested at Chubu Centrair International Airport after allegedly injuring a police officer who warned him about walking two toy poodles without leashes inside the airport complex.
The self-employed man from Yokkaichi, Mie Prefecture, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of obstructing official duties and causing injury.
According to police, the incident occurred at around 11:30 p.m. on September 14 in the airport's Access Plaza, where the man allegedly rammed a luggage cart into a male police officer.
The officer suffered minor injuries.
Police said the man had been walking two toy poodles without leashes when the officer cautioned him. Investigators believe the man became angry over the warning and assaulted the officer.
The man has admitted to the allegations, police said.
Chubu airport regulations prohibit passengers from bringing pets and other animals into its facilities, except for guide dogs and assistance dogs or animals being checked in as air cargo.
