SAPPORO, Jan 09 (News On Japan) - Police have re-arrested a 58-year-old man, previously detained for abandoning the body of a 66-year-old woman in a mountain forest in Ashoro Town, Hokkaido, last November, on suspicion of murder.
The suspect has confessed to the crime, stating that he killed the nightclub owner by hitting her on the head with a blunt object.
Noriyoshi Shido, an unemployed resident of Ashoro Town, is accused of murdering Mayumi Nobemoto, who ran a local snack bar, in the bedroom of her own home last November. In response to police inquiries, Shido admitted to the charge saying, "There is no mistake," and confessed that he killed Nobemoto out of anger by striking her on the head with a blunt tool.
Shido had been arrested last month on suspicion of abandoning a corpse after he allegedly left Nobemoto's body in a local mountain forest. Following his confession, the police searched the forest and found parts of the victim's body. The police are continuing their investigation to uncover the full circumstances that led to the incident.
