2 boys nabbed trying to steal policeman's handcuffs

HIROSHIMA, Jan 10 (News On Japan) - Two teenagers were arrested on Sunday evening near Hiroshima Station's rotary for assaulting a police officer and attempting to steal his handcuffs.

The officer, who was requesting the presentation of a driver's license from the 17-year-old self-claimed high school students, was reportedly pushed multiple times in the chest by the teenagers during the incident.

Witnesses nearby described the scene, noting that a police officer was down on the ground and a group resembling a biker gang was talking animatedly, drawing concerned looks from onlookers.

The teenagers have admitted to pushing the officer but deny the accusations of assault.
