YOKOHAMA, Jan 26 (News On Japan) - The Japan Coast Guard received a distress call just after 8:00 PM on Thursday night from a cruise ship that had departed from Yokohama Port, reporting that they had collided with a breakwater, injuring the captain.
The ship sustained damage to the bow and experienced minor flooding, but there was no risk of it sinking.
In this incident, 8 of the 11 passengers on board suffered minor injuries, while the captain and a crew member also sustained injuries, including to the head.
This accident questions about the navigational procedures and safety measures in place for such cruise ships, especially when operating in the vicinity of infrastructure like breakwaters.
